Design Finland

How do you capture something distinctly Finnish in a logo for a brand-new media?

The new Design Finland logo draws on Finland’s position as the world’s happiest country. Two dots and the letter D turn the logotype into a laughing face — a small detail that gives the identity its character.

The logo is based on Fulcrum, a typeface by Teo Tuominen / Future Fonts, highlighting the richness of Finnish typography design.

If we would care to design a new media platform? Yes, pls! Our experience from journalism, digital media design and CMS development, as well as board level experience from the publishing industry, came to good use when designing the new designfinland.fi website. Designfinland.fi is a fresh new business media that accomodates a broad range of content within the fields of design and marketing. Strong typography, a modular layout and a clear editorial structure make it easy to explore feature articles, perspectives, events and design cases.

For the color scheme we wanted to avoid the predictable blue and white cookie cutter of Finnish design, instead turning to playful and rich contrasts and a calm butter yellow.
